The Alice Bell Garden Club of Greenville recently unveiled a sign dedicated to Steve in the Greenville Writer’s Garden located in Fannie Arnold Park.   The Greenville Writer’s Garden was established and is maintained by Alice Bell Garden Club and  is dedicated to those published writers of Greenville who have deep roots and strong ties to this delta land and have expressed their love and understanding of nature in literature, song or poetry. Other writers featured in the garden are William A. Percy and Caroline Stern.  The sign features an excerpt from the song “Empty Spaces” written by Steve and was recorded on his Indianola album.

The ceremony included a moving performance by the “Flower Petals” , a youth group sponsored by the Alice Bell Garden Club.  The children from Carrie Stern Elementary sang Steve’s hit “I Don’t Have To Be Me ‘Til Monday” a ccapella to Steve.
