The singer-songwriter who penned the new country single “American Farmer” will be back in Sioux Falls to perform a free concert for his favorite audience during the Sioux Empire Fair. Country artist Steve Azar, with the sponsorship of Swenson Investments & Commodities of Sioux Falls and Miller, will be live on stage on the Front Porch at 2:00 p.m. on Ag Appreciation Day, August 8. The Sioux Empire Fair runs August 4 through 12 at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds in Sioux Falls.
“I’m excited about getting back to Sioux Falls and teaming up with Brad Swenson to show our appreciation for the American farmer,” Azar said. “There just couldn’t be a better time to play a few songs and have some fun with friends than Ag Appreciation Day at the fair.”
Azar met Swenson, president of an investment and commodities company that works extensively with ag producers, at a charity event. Swenson asked Azar if he would write a song showing their mutual appreciation for American farmers.
The result was “American Farmer,” produced in time to be performed live by Steve Azar at the South Dakota FFA Convention in April. Swenson Investments & Commodities sponsored the free concert. They also paid for an initial printing of 2,000 CD copies of “American Farmer” which has netted $10,000. to benefit the work of the statewide FFA organization. The song is getting regional airplay and undoubtedly will be one of the tunes Azar performs during his Ag Appreciation Day concert at the Sioux Empire Fair.
