"One Mississippi" by Steve Azar (Official State Song of Mississippi)

Local K-12 students at Steve's alma mater join him in performing his song, "One Mississippi"off his latest album, “My Mississippi Reunion”, a compilation exclusive vinyl, CD and digital release featuring a collection of new and remastered songs, all about his home. Azar wrote "One Mississippi" in 2017 for the official Bicentennial song of Mississippi which was voted in as the official state song of Mississippi in 2022. Steve Azar knew that someday he would leave his Mississippi Delta home, where as a child he watched skilled musicians play outside of his father's liquor store, to pursue his own life in music. A native of Greenville, MS, Azar is a hit songwriter, recording artist, and music producer whose sound traverses a blend of country, blues, funk, and rock n’ roll, or as he refers to it, "Delta Soul." Azar has released six critically acclaimed studio albums. Waitin’ On Joe features the smash hit "I Don't Have to Be Me ('til Monday),” which has received 3 BMI Million-Air awards for over three million in air plays, and is one of radio's top five most played songs of the past two decades. Azar has reached #1 three times on the video charts, including his videos for "Sunshine (Everybody Needs a Little)" and “Waitin’ on Joe,” which featured Academy Award-winner Morgan Freeman. One of his latest recording projects, Steve Azar & The Kings Men's Down At The Liquor Store, is backed by veteran bandmates of B.B. King, Elvis Presley, and other icons of music. The feature documentary Something In The Water chronicles the making of the record at the legendary Club Ebony in Indianola, MS. Azar is the official Music & Culture Ambassador of Mississippi. He also hosts his own radio show and podcast titled In a Mississippi Minute with Steve Azar, available on all platforms where podcasts are found. To find out more go to steveazar.com
